Ordering with Interac e-Transfer: what happens after you hit send

Interac e-Transfer is how every order on this site gets paid, and it is the step where most first-time orders stall. Not because it is complicated — because it is unfamiliar in this context, and because the confirmation email does more work than people expect.

The sequence

You check out, and we email you payment instructions: a recipient email address, the exact amount, and a security question and answer if your bank asks for one. You then send the e-Transfer from your own online banking, exactly as you would to a friend. Your order sits in a pending state until the transfer lands.

Most Canadian banks auto-deposit or clear within minutes. Some hold the first transfer to a new recipient for up to 30 minutes, and a few will hold a first-time transfer for longer. That wait is your bank’s, not ours.

The confirmation email is the part that matters

Once payment clears, you get a confirmation. If it has not arrived within a couple of hours of your transfer clearing, check your spam or junk folder before anything else. Fresh domains and order confirmations from smaller retailers get filtered aggressively, and this is far and away the most common reason someone thinks their order vanished.

Marking that email as “not spam” once usually fixes it permanently, and it means your shipping notification lands in the right place later.

Where transfers actually go wrong

Wrong amount. Send the exact total from your instructions email. A transfer that is five dollars light has to be manually reconciled, which costs a day.

Wrong security answer. If your bank asks for a question and answer, use the one in your instructions email, spelled exactly as written. Case usually does not matter; spelling does.

Sending before checkout. An e-Transfer with no order attached to it is just money sitting in an inbox. Always check out first so there is an order number to match it to.

Daily limits. Most banks cap e-Transfers per day and per week. If you are placing a large order, check your limit before you check out rather than after.

Why not a credit card

Fair question, and the honest answer is that Canadian card processors will not touch this category. E-Transfer is what is actually available to mail-order dispensaries here. It has one genuine upside worth naming: nothing about your order touches a card network, and we never hold card details because we never receive them.

The trade-off is that e-Transfers are not reversible the way a chargeback is. That puts the burden on us to be worth trusting, which is a reasonable place for it to sit.

Still stuck

Our FAQ page covers order minimums, shipping timelines and the rest of the ordering flow. If a transfer has cleared your account and your order still shows unpaid after a few hours, use the contact form and quote your order number — that is faster than resending anything.

Interac e-Transfer cannabis order: the short version

An Interac e-Transfer cannabis order is a two-step payment: you check out to generate the order, then you push the money from your own bank. Interac’s own e-Transfer documentation covers the banking side; everything below is what is specific to ordering here.

Timing, realistically

Order placed in the morning on a weekday, transfer sent within the hour, payment cleared the same day — that is the common path, and it means your order joins that day’s packing run. Send the transfer late in the evening and you are realistically joining tomorrow’s. Weekends depend on the bank more than on us.

None of this changes what you pay. Free shipping still starts at $299 regardless of when the transfer lands, and the $88 deals do not expire faster because payment took a day.
